Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival returns in a blaze of colour

Northern Territory Major Events Company

A much-loved Top End festival returns to the events calendar today in its usual colourful format after taking place as an online event last year.

Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival, which runs from 7-8 May, sees two kilometres of the beautiful Nightcliff Foreshore turned into a stage for all things art, music, dance and more. There will be a range of workshops covering topics such as edible gardens, cooking tropical plants, tropical insects and bush tucker, and a 3x3 basketball event hosted by Darwin basketball star Deola D’Brown.

Local businesses along the Foreshore are involved, with The Lucky Bat, Dom’s Bar, Foreshore Café, Nightcliff Sports & Social Club and Beachfront Hotel all hosting a range of acts. A variety of stages will complete the mix, offering an eclectic range of performances.

The festival offers a busy program from 5pm today and 2pm tomorrow. To find out more visit www.nightcliffseabreeze.com

Quotes from Tim Watsford, NT Major Events Company CEO:

“From the Nightcliff Jetty right up to the Rapid Creek bridge, the Nightcliff Festival promises two days of entertainment spread across one of Darwin’s most stunning locations. There really is something for all ages, and it’s the perfect spot to watch a legendary Territory sunset while grabbing a bite to eat.

“The festival is a great opportunity for the community to get together and celebrate Territory talent, and also for that talent to gain more event experience.”

Quotes from Andrew Arthur, Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival Chair:

“The location makes this event really unique, and we are officially the Southern Hemisphere’s longest outdoor festival! The festival won a Best Community Event Award at the Australian Event Awards 2020, so come along and see what all the fuss is about.

“We encourage you to leave the car at home, and bring a reusable water bottle, cup and container as this is a single-use-plastic-free event. We’ll see you there!”
