COVID-19 Update: NSW Advice

NT Health

The Chief Health Officer is encouraging anyone who has been in New South Wales since 30 April to continually check the full list of COVID-19 case locations as they may be required to quarantine at a suitable place, effective immediately.

The list has expanded following the announcement of a second community case of COVID-19, a close contact of the male in his 50’s announced yesterday.

A full list of COVID-19 case locations can be found at: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates.

Additionally, the Chief Health Officer strongly urges anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 to book a COVID-19 test immediately.

The advice to seek a COVID-19 test for anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 is particularly relevant for anyone who has arrived into the Northern Territory from Sydney since 26 April 2021.

Use of The Territory Check-In app, other QR code, or manual entry remains mandatory at all Northern Territory Venues. Territorians are encouraged to continue to use check-in systems to assist NT health authorities to act quickly and undertake contact tracing if required.

To arrange a test, please contact the COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 490 484 or book online at: https://covid19appointment.nt.gov.au/test.

The Chief Health Officer will continue to review and assess the COVID-19 situation across Australia, and will take into account COVID-19 monitoring and data collection, the extent of community transmission and risks to the NT community.

The risk of COVID-19 in our communities cannot be eliminated which is why it is important for everyone to follow all health directions.

  • If you have COVID-19 symptoms, do not travel. Make sure you get tested and stay at home.
  • Maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres at all times.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water and use hand sanitiser regularly.
  • Do not go to work if you feel sick.
  • If you have symptoms, stay away from others and get tested for COVID-19.

Quotes attributable to Chief Health Officer Dr Charles Pain

“The additional advice I am providing today is particularly timely after reports of a second community case in New South Wales.

“New South Wales health authorities have been able to undertake quick and efficient contact tracing thanks to the thorough use of check-in technology by these two people, and their own diligence in being tested rapidly.

“I encourage all Territorians to monitor their health, and if showing any symptoms, no matter how mild, seek a test.

“Checking-in at venues also remains a critical part of the Northern Territories defence against COVID-19 and I encourage patrons and business owners alike to ensure they are doing the right thing and checking in, or encouraging their patrons to do so.”
