Pride in Your Place Awards – John Goninon

Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities

Congratulations to John Goninon who has won the February Pride in Your Place (PIYP) award.

The Territory Families, Housing and Communities (TFHC) monthly award recognises public housing tenants who look after their home and yard with exceptional care.

Mr Goninon has been a resident at his Palmerston public housing property for more than eight years and has beautified his rental property by planting banana and pawpaw trees in his impressive garden.

TFHC Housing Officer Keval Patel nominated Mr Goninon due to having the best kept lawn on the street.

Mr Goninon received a $200 gift card from Bunnings and a certificate signed by the Minister for Territory Families and Urban Housing, the Hon Kate Worden MLA.

Tenants can be nominated at any time by a staff member from Territory Families, Housing and Communities. To find out more, contact your local housing tenancy officer.

Quotes John Goninon, resident of Palmerston

"Each week I spend anywhere between twelve to twenty hours on my garden.

"My favourite part of the garden is sitting underneath the banana trees because they are nice and shady when the sun is out.

"I will use my Bunnings voucher to buy potting mix, fertiliser, and more plants." – John Goninon, Palmerston resident.
