Bonus chance to snag a tagged barra for 60 lucky fishos!

Northern Territory Major Events Company

Sixty lucky fishos have snagged themselves an incredible chance to catch a bonus $5,000 Charity Fish as part of the Million Dollar Fish competition. The opportunity comes thanks to a partnership between Million Dollar Fish and Great Northern.

Great Northern ambassador, mad keen fisho and Outback Wrangler Matt Wright has released a bonus Charity Fish at Barra Adventures in Darwin’s rural area. Through the Wet a Line with Matt Wright competition on Mix 104.9 FM, 30 eager fishos have won a spot for themselves and a mate to have a good crack at catching it, at an invite-only event today.

The special 60 will head to Barra Adventures to try their luck, and are also in with the chance to win a swag of other goodies, including a Great Northern Breakaway fishing trip to the Tiwi Islands, Great Northern Fishing Packs and official Million Dollar Fish merchandise.

If the Charity Fish is not caught at today’s event, but is caught any time up until 31 March 2021 by an angler aged 18 or over, the full $5,000 prize will go to the Million Dollar Fish-affiliated charity of the fisho’s choice. The fisho will win a remote fishing charter, thanks to Barramundi Adventures, and a Million Dollar Fish merchandise pack.

There are still 93 $10,000 Million Dollar Fish Season 6 tagged barra in Territory waterways, plus seven $1 million barra (once the first $1 million fish is caught, the remaining six turn into $10,000 fish), and four Double Tag Barra worth $10,000 to the lucky fisho and $5,000 to their friend. In addition, there are 20 $5,000 Charity Fish, with $2,500 going to the lucky fisho and $2,500 going to the Million Dollar Fish-affiliated charity of choice. Quotes from Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) CEO Tim Watsford:

“We’re so excited to be giving these 60 fishos an extra chance to catch a Charity Fish as part of Million Dollar Fish’s partnership with Great Northern.

“No one has caught a Charity Fish yet this season, but we have high hopes today is the day. When it is caught, one of our Million Dollar Fish-affiliated charities will see the benefits. They are Cancer Council NT, the Star Ball through the Starlight Children’s Foundation, and the Junior Indigenous Marine and Environmental Cadets Program.

“If you aren’t registered for Million Dollar Fish, get online now and do it. The competition offers heaps of ways to win, so there’s never been a better time to explore the Territory’s world-class fishing regions, support our tourism industry and wet a line.”

Quotes from Outback Wrangler and Great Northern Brewing Co Ambassador Matt Wright:

“Million Dollar fish is a great opportunity to get fishos up North, and what better brand to partner with than Great Northern, the taste of the North.”

“It’s great to be able to tag an extra Charity Fish and wet a line to launch Great Northern’s partnership with Million Dollar Fish.”
