NT WorkSafe has issued a safety alert to highlight the risk of serious injury or death when using chains in towing or recovery operations.
The safety alert comes after the death of a worker earlier this year in Maningrida. The 50-year old worker was fatally injured when a chain used in a towing operation failed and recoiled, striking the worker.
The safety alert contains a number of actions employers and workers should take before using chains in towing or recovery operations.
The NT WorkSafe investigation into the incident is ongoing.
