Media Alert - National Corrections Day 2020

Media are invited to attend National Corrections Day events at the Darwin Correctional Precinct and the Alice Springs Correctional Centre including presentations of employee awards and activities for families.

National Corrections Day pays tribute to correctional services employees throughout Australia and recognises the wide variety and often challenging work they do to support safer communities.

Darwin Correctional Precinct

Time: Friday 17 January 2020 - 1.45 pm for 2 pm start and to finish around 4 pm.

Where: 325 Willard Road, Holtze at the Staff Learning and Development Centre. It is the big building on the left on entry to the precinct. Follow the signs and park in the staff car park.

Who: NT Correctional Services Commissioner Scott McNairn and DCP General Manager Jon Francis-Jones will present employees with graduation certificates, recognition of service medals and letters of commendation.  There will also be presentations of awards for Aboriginal leadership and a range of informal activities for families.

What: Interviews with NT Correctional Services Commissioner Scott McNairn and award recipients.

Alice Springs Correctional Centre

Time: Friday 17 January 2020 – 1.45 pm for 2 pm start and to finish around 3.45 pm.

Where: The correctional centre is 25 km south of Alice Springs off the Stuart Highway. Follow the signs to the Staff Learning and Development Centre.

Who: Acting Deputy Commissioner, Custodial Operations Bill Carroll and ASCC General Manager Bill Yan will present employees with training certificates, national medals, recognition of service awards and letters of commendation. There will also be presentations of awards for Aboriginal leadership and a range of informal activities for families.

What: Interviews with Acting Deputy Commissioner, Custodial Operations Bill Carroll and award recipients.

 

NOTE: These events are outside the secure correctional centre environments. Media will not be allowed inside the secure areas.
