NTIS Officiating Development Program 2019/20 open for applications

Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture

Territory Peak Sporting Bodies are encouraged to apply for the 2019/20 NTIS Officiating Development Program.

Administered by the Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture’s Northern Territory Institute of Sport (NTIS), $58,000 is available across two categories:

  • Category 1: Development of Officiating Coaches and Educators
  • Category 2: Accreditation Courses and Competitions

Category 1 aims to assist sports with the development of officiating coaches/educators in the NT. Like athletes, it is critical that every official has support from quality coaches/educators to encourage positive learning and development environments

Category 2 aims to improve the skills, knowledge and experience of accredited sport officials within the NT.

Peak Sporting Bodies can apply for one or both categories and receive up to $4,000 per category, to a maximum of $8,000 in total.

In 2018/19, ten Peak Sporting Bodies benefited with 19 officiating projects approved totalling $61,074.

Quotes from Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture, Senior Director, Dr Ian Ford

“I’m pleased to announce the 2019/20 NTIS Officiating Development Program is open for applications. The program supports and strengthens sport by providing key funding to develop sporting officials associated with the Territory’s Peak Sporting Bodies.

“The development program encompasses two main areas: advanced accreditation courses and competitions, and development of officiating coaches/educators with grants up to $4,000 available in each category.

“Sport is a way of life in the Territory and this funding continues to help improve the knowledge, skills and experience of accredited sport officials participating in the NT.
