NT tourism industry showcased to domestic and international trade operators

Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture

The best of the Territory’s tourism experiences, attractions and destinations will be showcased to domestic and international trade operators with multiple events occurring across the NT in August and September.

Tourism NT will jointly host the largest delegation of domestic travel agents ever in the NT at the Flight Centre Team Leader Conferences for South Australian and New South Wales Team Leaders. Joined by other conference hosts including AAT Kings, Voyages, Cover-More Travel Insurance, APT Travel Group, Intrepid Travel, Topdeck Travel, Royal Caribbean and the Northern Territory Convention Bureau, Tourism NT presentations will highlight and promote the NT’s seasons, adventure, nature, wildlife, history and art and culture experiences.

From 29 August to 3 September, Tourism NT’s annual domestic trade familiarisation and workshop event, NT Round Up, will showcase the Territory to 40 domestic and New Zealand delegates including frontline travel agents, wholesalers and product managers. Delegates will travel overnight on The Ghan from Darwin to Alice Springs via Katherine, courtesy of Journey Beyond. The delegates will undertake touring in Katherine and Alice Springs, providing firsthand experiences and opportunities to meet with tourism operators enabling the delegates to better sell the NT.

From 4-6 September, the annual international Inbound NT event will provide NT operators the opportunity to meet face-to-face with up to 30 product managers from key inbound tour operator partners working across the NT’s global markets.

Held in Alice Springs, Inbound NT will run alongside Tourism NT’s bi-annual Adventure NT event which brings 30 targeted Chinese buyers to the NT.

Qantas are sponsoring the events in support of the Territory’s tourism industry, assisting key trade partners to attend.

Inbound NT and Adventure NT are being held on adjacent days to maximise the opportunity for NT operators to meet with all buyers in a compressed timeframe and within destination.

Quotes by General Manager Marketing Tourism NT, Tony Quarmby:

“Travel retail buyers and front line staff have the entire world to sell to their customers so ensuring the Territory is seen as different and a place that connects to all the senses, on an emotional level having had experienced it for themselves, is priceless marketing. The Territory is home to world-class tourism experiences and attractions and these domestic and international operators will leave the NT as invaluable ambassadors.

“The Northern Territory Government’s Turbocharging Tourism investment is providing a boost to the Territory economy as we continue to drive visitation and boost our domestic and international marketing ensuring the NT brand is well represented in the highly competitive global tourism market.”
