The Department of Local Government, Housing and Community Development will be releasing a Request for Proposals for the construction of Social Housing Head Leased dwellings in Darwin and Tennant Creek next week.
The department will be seeking to increase its public housing stock by 56 dwellings in Darwin, and a further 12 dwellings in Tennant Creek.
Under the social housing head leasing initiative, long-term leases of 10 years will be offered to developers, with an option of a five year extension. The department will then sub-let to tenants who qualify for social housing.
