Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet NT COVID-19 update

The Northern Territory is today reporting the death of a woman in her 50s with COVID-19.

The woman was from the Tiwi Islands and had underlying health conditions.

The woman passed away on 11 February at Royal Darwin Hospital. Her death was confirmed by NT Health last night.

There have now been 10 COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the Northern Territory since the start of the pandemic.

There were 757 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Northern Territory in the 24 hours to 8pm on 12 February 2022. Of these, 643 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

Following daily data cleansing, the case number for the 24-hour reporting period to 8pm on 12 February 2022 has been amended to 1,216

There were 436 cases recorded in the Top End region, 171 in Central Australia, 28 in East Arnhem, 31 in the Big Rivers region, 15 in the Barkly region and 76 are under investigation.

There are currently 164 patients in hospital, with 21 patients requiring oxygen. There is one patient in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is about 7,332.

Public health measures

To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission, the following public health measures are in place across the NT:

COVID-19 testing

Everyone should get tested for COVID-19 if showing symptoms. A number of NT Rapid Antigen Testing and Distribution Points [https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/stay-safe/symptoms-testing] have been established.
