BUSHFIRES NT MESSAGE: #12 ADVICE.

LOCATION: Simpsons Gap, BURT PLAIN.

ALERT LEVEL: Advice - A fire is burning in the area. Monitor the situation for changes.

FIRE TYPE: Bushfire. INFORMATION CURRENT AS AT: 09:00 hours.

STATUS: GOING - A fire which is spreading on one or more fronts. Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility. Active fire may occur close to the roadside.

WHAT TO DO: Prepare your property now. Conditions may change, monitor conditions in your area. Stay informed until threat is reduced.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: The fire is currently contained between Darken Drive to the east, Arrenge Bluff track to the west, Larapinta Drive to the south and the Rungutjirba Ridge to the north. Firefighting crews will be monitoring the fire ground today through patrols and aerial surveys.

Parks and Wildlife have reopened the following trails within Tjoritja/West Macdonnell National Park • Section 1 – Telegraph Station to Simpsons Gap • Cassia Hill Walk • Simpsons Gap Bike Path. Section 2, Woodlands Trail and Mulga Camp campsite remain closed until further notice.

For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions.
