Northern Territory Government
Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade Registrations open for AGES 2023
Monday 12 October 2022
Resource companies, geologists, businesses and others with interests in mineral and energy exploration and development in the Territory are encouraged to sign up for the 2023 Annual Geoscience Exploration Seminar (AGES) being held in Alice Springs in April.
The Territory’s premier exploration event, hosted by the Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) team and now in its 24th year, is the NT Government’s flagship exploration event that highlights the latest geological and exploration findings on the Territory’s resource potential.
AGES will be held at the Alice Springs Convention Centre on Tuesday, 18 April and Wednesday 19 April 2023 and registrations for the event have opened via [https://ages.nt.gov.au]
The seminar is part of a broader plan to attract and support investment in the Territory, in keeping with the Territory Economic Reconstruction Commission’s recommendations, which identified mineral exploration as a priority industry.
The AGES technical program will include talks from the NT Geological Survey and its partners, including Geoscience Australia, on the latest findings from pre-competitive geoscience programs in the Territory. Presentations from exploration companies on the latest results and exploration concepts from their programs in the NT will also be given.
AGES is held in conjunction with the Alice Springs Mining Services Expo, which provides business development opportunities for Territory businesses to showcase their products, services and local capabilities to support exploration and mining ventures.
To find out what exploration and investment opportunities exist in the resources sector, register today to attend AGES and the Mining Services Expo, previous events have attracted around 260 participants from across Australia.

Quotes – Dr Ian Scrimgeour, Senior Executive Director, Northern Territory Geological Survey
“Resources are the biggest contributor to the Territory’s economy. The indirect flow to the Territory’s economy, our regional areas, and small business is significant.
“The Territory continues to be in demand for its access to substantial resources and world-class mineral deposits, including critical minerals such as lithium, rare earths, manganese and copper. These are vital minerals needed to support the world’s transition to zero emissions by providing the raw materials needed to make batteries and solar panels.
“There are currently 20 mining projects working towards a Final Investment Decision in the Territory with a combined value of over $8.2 billion and the potential to create over 5000 construction jobs. Mineral exploration expenditure in the Northern Territory for 2021-22 was $171.5 million, up 34% from the previous year and at the highest levels since 2011/12.
"AGES is the peak event for those in the mineral and energy exploration sector to be involved in each year.”
