BUSHFIRES NT MESSAGE: ADVICE #8

LOCATION: Simpsons Gap, BURT PLAIN

ALERT LEVEL: Advice - A fire is burning in the area. Monitor the situation for changes.

FIRE TYPE: Bushfire. INFORMATION CURRENT AS AT: 18/08/2024 10:01 hours

STATUS: GOING - A fire which is spreading on one or more fronts. Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility. Active fire may occur close to the roadside.

WHAT TO DO: Conditions may change, monitor conditions in your area. Stay informed until threat is reduced. Avoid the area.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Crews will be patrolling and undertaking back burning operations along Larapinta Drive to the Arenge Bluff track to contain the fire. Sparks and embers maybe visible ahead of the fire front. The roads are narrow, if towing a vehicle, it will be very difficult to turn around. Ensure to slow down and put your vehicles headlights on. Tomorrow the winds will be strengthening, it is expected the winds will be North, North Westerly, pushing the fire in a South Easterly direction.
