Northern Territory Government

Department of Tourism and Hospitality Community spirit set to shine bright at the Darwin Christmas Pageant

31 October 2024

The Northern Territory Government and City of Darwin are excited to announce the pageant route and program for this year’s A Very Darwin Christmas Pageant on Saturday, 16 November from 5:30pm.

The Pageant route commences at Knuckey Street on the Esplanade, the floats will parade down Cavenagh Street, down Bennett Street, and finish at Herbert Street.

The 2024 Christmas Pageant is set to shine even brighter because of the Darwin community’s incredible spirit and involvement. There are a record number of floats and schools participating in the Christmas Pageant this year, with over 50 floats and 11 schools set to spread Christmas cheer through Darwin city.

This year’s pageant will feature more entertainment for the entire family, roaming performances throughout Smith Street Mall and within the parade, more delicious food options throughout the city, improved accessibility areas and ample free parking.

A Very Darwin Christmas Pageant will kick off at the new time of 5.30pm, with the Lord Mayor’s Lighting of the Christmas tree programmed for 7pm – so attendees can spend less time in the heat, and more time soaking up and spreading Christmas cheer.

A Very Darwin Christmas Pageant marks the beginning of the festive season in our beautiful, tropical city. Local retailers and hospitality businesses will be encouraged and supported to ensure their shopfronts and venues are dressed and ready for the thousands of extra people in the city on pageant day.
