Territory Families, Housing and Communities Your opportunity to gain funding to research NT history

22 September 2021

Grants from $500 to $7000 are available for historians and researchers to fund original research about Northern Territory history.

Applicants have until Monday 18 October 2021 to submit their applications, which are administered annually by Library & Archives NT (LANT).

The program supports original research that broadens community understanding of, and engagement with, NT history.

Examples of previously funded projects include research for oral history interviews, a history based walking tour, exhibitions, websites, radio programs, theatre plays, books and other published material.

For guidelines and information about how to lodge your application go to [https://lant.nt.gov.au/northern-territory-history-grants-program].

The NT History Grants Assessment Panel will assess applications based on key criteria, including the project’s uniqueness and proposed outcomes.

Successful applicants will be announced in December 2021.

Quotes from Territory Families, Housing and Communities Chief Executive, Ken Davies

“The grants are a wonderful opportunity for historians and researchers to celebrate our rich and unique history to ensure its continuation for our future generations.

“We must do everything to document our history as it contributes so much to our identity and once lost, cannot be recovered.

“I encourage all people interested in recording our history, in whatever that format may be, to apply for a grant.”
