If the kids are dreaming of that perfect school break that’s packed with activities, then be sure to put the Darwin Waterfront on the schedule.

The Darwin Waterfront School Holiday Program is now live

Families can now plan their two-week September/October school holidays as the Darwin Waterfront holiday program goes live. There are activities on every day from Monday 27 September until Saturday 9 October with the majority of the events being free to attend.

The September/October program features a wide range of activities to choose from, that will excite, inspire and encourage young people to get involved and get active.

Ranger Stu will begin the holiday program by taking a group of young rangers on a guided tour of the Darwin Waterfront, to learn what a Waterfront Ranger does on Monday 27 September at 10am.

For all the chef’s, there are Italian Pasta Making and Vietnamese Rice Paper Roll cooking workshops learning from experienced chefs. There are multiple ticketed cooking classes on offer for kids over the age of 12.

On Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 September the Waterfront lawns will be turned into a fun bike track as Road Safety bring their Bicycle Sense workshops to the Waterfront. Young people are encouraged to bring their bike and helmet down so they can ride the bike track and learn some important bike safety skills, plus there is even the chance to win a bike.

Surf Life Saving NT will run their important Nippers Water Safety Awareness Program at the Recreation Lagoon on October 1.

There will be a fun Friday evening roller disco event at the Skyline Ferris Wheel where the kids can get their roller skates out and boogie to music under the colourful lights of the Ferris Wheel with Skate Darwin.

The program also features animals and ponies to meet and pet with Tip Top Circus’s ‘All Things Wild’, and a Bluey and Nickelodeon’s Paw Patrol art competition with the chance to meet the characters at the Darwin Waterfront’s New Year’s Eve event.

To make the most of your school holidays, you can spend the week at the Waterfront splashing into the Wave Lagoon or Recreation Lagoon, challenge a friend to the Aqua Park or ride the Skyline Ferris Wheel. There is plenty of parkland space to explore and play games in or set up a picnic to enjoy take-away from one of the many restaurants or cafes.

Families are encouraged to be sun-safe and wear sunscreen, a hat and drink plenty of water.
