Department of People, Sport and Culture NT Arts Projects Grants supporting Territory artists

Emerging and established artists from across the Northern Territory can access funding for their creative ventures thanks to the opening of Round 2 of the Arts Projects 2024-25 grants.

Administered by the Department of People, Sport and Culture, these grants provide vital support for artists, arts workers, and arts organisations to develop, showcase and present their work.

The Arts Grants Program supports Territory artists in building their careers, expanding professional networks, growing audiences, and enriching communities through vibrant artistic projects.

Round 1 of the Arts Projects Grants saw $200,000 awarded to 8 successful applicants – funding projects across literature, visual arts, crafts, design, dance, music and cross-artforms. Recipients included:

Ifa Shiddiq, an emerging visual artist, was awarded $9,754 to develop Zest for Life, a debut comic anthology featuring 5 heartwarming short stories.

Bulabula Arts Aboriginal Corporation, in collaboration with Black Cat Couture, was awarded $30,000 to develop a collection for the Country to Couture 2025 Indigenous Fashion Projects runway show, celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander textiles and design.

GUTS Dance Central Australia was awarded $30,000 to deliver a professional development program in Alice Springs, focused on place-based, community-integrated practices and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.

Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association was awarded $27,000 to support artist Johnathon World Peace Bush in exhibiting Walking in Two Worlds at London’s prestigious Frieze 9 Cork Street International gallery in February 2025.

Artists and arts organisations are encouraged to apply for Round 2 funding, which is now open for projects commencing from 1 July 2025. Applications close at midnight on Wednesday 5 March 2025. Applications will be assessed by a panel of arts peers with specialised expertise from the Arts NT Register of Peers.
