LOCATION: Namatjira Drive, WEST MACDONNELL RANGES
ALERT LEVEL: Watch and Act - There is a heightened level of threat. Conditions are changing. Start taking action now to protect your family and your property.
FIRE TYPE: Bushfire
INFORMATION CURRENT AS AT: 12/10/2024 14:23 hours
STATUS: GOING - A fire which is spreading on one or more fronts. Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.
RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility, Active fire may occur close to the roadside, Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside.
ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Fire crews and aviation resources are still working to contain this fire. The fire is in the vicinity of Standley Chasm. Anyone within the area should monitor the situation and enact their bushfire survival plans. Structures are being impacted on the Northwestern corner in the area of Standley Chasm and Larapinta Drive. Active fire on both sides of Namatjira Drive and smoke will be causing reduced visibility. Members of the public are advised to reconsider any planned travel in the area. For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions.
