Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet NT COVID-19 update

The Northern Territory is today reporting the death of two people with COVID-19.
A female in her 40s, with underlying health conditions, died at home in Alice Springs on 4 February.
A male in his 50s, with underlying health conditions, died at the Alice Springs Hospital on 7 February.
Both deaths were confirmed as being COVID-19 related by the Chief Health Officer this morning.
There have now been nine COVID-19 deaths recorded in the NT since the start of the pandemic.
There were 1,096 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Northern Territory in the 24 hours to 8pm on 10 February 2022. Of these, 924 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
Following the submission of further RAT results, the case number for the 24-hour reporting period to 8pm on 9 February 2022 has been amended to 1,195.
There were 612 cases recorded in the Top End Region, 226 in Central Australia, 91 in the East Arnhem region, 81 in the Big Rivers region, 17 in the Barkly region and 69 are under investigation.
There are currently 164 patients in hospital, with 27 patients requiring oxygen. There are three patients in ICU.
The number of active cases in the NT is about 7,379.
Public health measures
To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission, the following public health measures are in place across the NT:
· A Territory-wide indoor mask mandate
· It is highly recommended that all people aged 12 years and over wear a mask outdoors when physical distancing cannot be applied
· The Territory Vaccine Pass
· The Australian Government has introduced biosecurity zones to restrict movement between remote communities in the Territory. For more information on biosecurity zones visit [https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/stay-safe/remote-communities/biosecurity-zones].
COVID-19 testing
Everyone should get tested for COVID-19 if showing symptoms. A number of NT Rapid Antigen Testing and Distribution Points [https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/stay-safe/symptoms-testing] have been established.
