Have your say on the draft Greater Holtze Area Plan
10 November 2022
The NT Planning Commission is pleased to release the first draft of the Greater Holtze Area Plan for comment.
This is the second part of a three-stage process to develop an Area Plan for Greater Holtze, which includes Holtze, Kowandi, Holtze North and Howard Springs North.
The NT Planning Commission has prepared this draft Greater Holtze Area Plan based on community feedback received during Stage One consultations in June 2022 and information from social, environmental and infrastructure studies undertaken to provide a solid evidence base for the Plan.
The most detailed level of planning within the draft Area Plan applies to the Holtze and Kowandi localities. Broad land use structure is also identified for the Holtze North and Howard Springs North areas. Over time, and prior to development, the Area Plan will include more detailed land use information for these two areas.
Community input at this stage of the Area Plan preparation process will help to refine and shape planning for the Greater Holtze Area ahead of the NT Planning Commission providing recommendations to the Minister.
There are a number of ways you can get involved and have your say on the draft plan:

Quotes attributable to NT Planning Commission Chairman Dr David Ritchie
“The Greater Holtze area has the potential to meet the needs of a growing city while also preserving natural environments and minimising biodiversity loss through incorporating social infrastructure with valued natural habitats.
“The objective of the Area Plan is to plan for safe, convenient and walkable neighbourhoods structured around activity centres and interconnected areas of high amenity open space.”
