BUSHFIRES NT MESSAGE: WATCH AND ACT

LOCATION: Barkly Complex, TENNANT CREEK

ALERT LEVEL: Watch and Act #9 - There is a heightened level of threat. Conditions are changing. Start taking action now to protect your family and your property.

FIRE TYPE: Bushfire. INFORMATION CURRENT AS AT: 13/09/2023 17:00 hours.

STATUS: GOING - A fire which is spreading on one or more fronts. Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility. Active fire may occur close to the roadside. Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside. Bushfires NT is primarily undertaking defensive strategies to protect lives and property.

WHAT TO DO: Monitor conditions as they are changing.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Backburning operations have begun along the south-eastern boundary of the Emergency Response Area as precautionary measures to further secure the perimeter of the ERA. Smoke and fire glow may be visible from the town.

Take all necessary precautions if you suffer from medical conditions that may be exacerbated by bushfire smoke.

Crews will be assisting the Epenarra and Canteen Creek communities throughout the evening.
