Smiles all-round at Smile-A-Mile Children’s Fun Day

A family favourite returns to the Top End’s events calendar tomorrow after a hiatus because of COVID-19. The free Smile-A-Mile Children’s Fun Day Tropical Carnival will take place at Freds Pass Lakeview Hall in the rural area on Thursday, 28 October, from 9am until 12 noon.

Targeting families with children aged up to six, the event will include carnival games, animal encounters, children’s entertainment, story time, art activities, a cultural space, community stalls, a free sausage sizzle and more.

The fun day will give families with young children the chance to get out and socialise in celebration of Children’s Week, which runs from 23-31 October and promotes the right of children to get together.

The event is supported by the Northern Territory Government via Northern Territory Major Events Company. To find out more about the fun day call (08) 8983 2009 or email toys@smileamile.org.au. Quotes from NT Major Events Company CEO, Tim Watsford:

“Community events are vital for young families, who can often feel isolated and cut off from the ‘real world’. This event is a chance for them to make important connections and meet people in a similar situation. Just as important, it’s hours of guaranteed fun for the small people in your life!”

Quotes from Smile-A-Mile’s Sara Barker:

“We’ll have lots of entertainment, from jumping castles to library story time and, of course, our fun bus with loads of activities for the little ones. There will be a coffee van to help the adults keep up with the children. So bring a hat, a mat and a water bottle, and get ready to have fun and meet some new friends.”
