BUSHFIRES NT MESSAGE - ADVICE

LOCATION: Barkly Highway, Epenarra, TABLELANDS

ALERT LEVEL: Advice #9 - A fire is going in the area. Road closures are in place. Monitor the situation for changes.

FIRE TYPE: Bushfire. INFORMATION CURRENT AS AT: 10/09/2023 09:30 hours.

STATUS: GOING - A fire which is spreading on one or more fronts. Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility. Active fire may occur close to the roadside. Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside. A bushfire is running or contained under very high to extreme weather conditions.

WHAT TO DO: Conditions may change, monitor conditions in your area. Stay informed until threat is reduced. Avoid unnecessary travel in the Barkly region and consider alternate routes.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: The Barkly Highway has closed to traffic between Threeways Roadhouse and Barkly Homestead due to active fire and smoke. Conditions are changing, so please monitor Road Report NT and Secure NT for updates and follow all directions given by emergency services.
