NT Health Statement on Royal Darwin Hospital Capacity Management - Code Yellow Lifted

10 September 2021

The Code Yellow at Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) was lifted earlier today. The hospital is still very busy but the extraordinary additional effort all staff over the last few days has decreased the bed capacity pressures to the point where the Code Yellow can be lifted.

Patient safety is always our priority and the dedicated and expert staff at RDH work hard every day to ensure Territorians continue to receive the best patient centred care possible.

We continue to urge people who have non-emergency health needs to see their GP as soon as they become sick to try to avoid becoming acutely unwell. This helps us care for those who most need a hospital bed.

We thank our hard working and dedicated staff and thank our community for supporting us during these times when demand exceeds hospital bed capacity and we appreciate their understanding and patience.
