Don’t miss the Hottest 7s in the World rugby this weekend
Established in 1989 as the Territory 7s, the event soon gathered pace to include international teams, and a women’s tournament was introduced in 2007.
The event returns after a forced hiatus last year, and includes senior men, senior women and U18 youth boys competitions. They will compete for a share of a $48,000 prize pool.
The event is supported by the Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company.
Weekend tickets cost just $25, while daily tickets cost $10 on Saturday and $20 on Sunday. Children under 17 can attend for free. Tickets available on the gate or via [https://ntrugbyunion.iwannaticket.com.au/]. To find out more about the event visit https://nt.rugby/hottest-7s/about
Quotes from NT Major Events Company CEO, Tim Watsford:
“Sporting events like this bring athletes and their support crews to the Territory, and the timing of the Hottest 7s mean they are visiting in what is traditionally our quieter season. The tournament also gives Territory rugby players and fans the chance to play in and watch a quality competition.
“After a year off last year for the Hottest 7s, it’s great to see so many teams keen to get back on board. Thousands of dollars of prize money are up for grabs, so the action will be fast and furious as teams do their best to claim victory.
“The Hottest 7s promises an action-packed weekend of sporting fun for all ages, so get on down to Rugby Park and cheer on the teams.”
Quotes from Northern Territory Rugby Union CEO Shane Sullivan:
“We can’t wait to see the Hottest 7s in the World tournament back in action. Olympic Gold Medallist and Australian Player of the Year Charlotte Caslick and Rugby Australia 7s captain Lewis Holland will join us to celebrate the return of the event.
“This is an exciting weekend for sports fans and players, so don’t miss the chance to catch all the action.”
