Every student needs to get back to school

Office of the Chief Minister

Parents are being urged to get their kids to school through the 2014 Back to School campaign.

Urban government school students return on Tuesday 28 January and remote government school students on Wednesday 29 January. Non-government school dates may vary. If you are unsure, check with your school.

Acting Minister for Education, John Elferink, said it’s important all students are enrolled for the fast approaching school year to ensure they have a place.

“The first step in achieving a quality education is to attend school and to attend school every day,” Mr Elferink said.

“The ultimate responsibility of attendance falls on the community; it’s up to parents and carers of Territory kids to put a value on education and get their kids to school.

“The Country Liberals Government is undertaking some significant reforms to education from which we will see some positive changes to how education is delivered in the Territory. However students will only benefit from these reforms if they attend school.”
