ALERT LEVEL: Advice - Fires around Alice Springs and the Tanami are causing heavy smoke throughout Alice Springs. Monitor the situation for changes.

FIRE TYPE: Bushfire. INFORMATION CURRENT AS AT: 06/09/2023 16:30 hours.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility.

WHAT TO DO: Conditions may change, monitor conditions in your area. Stay informed until threat is reduced.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Smoke from fires in the Alice Springs and Tanami region is impacting on the wider Alice Springs township. Smoke will continue to linger for some time. If you have a medical condition that is exacerbated by bushfire smoke, please take all precautions and follow medical advice.

If visibility is affected drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions.
