LOCATION: Yuendumu ALT, YUENDEMU

ALERT LEVEL: Advice

FIRE TYPE: Bushfire.

INFORMATION CURRENT AS AT: 12/01/2022 10:04 hours

STATUS: GOING - A fire which is spreading on one or more fronts. Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility, Active fire may occur close to the roadside , Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside.

WHAT TO DO: Stay informed until threat is reduced.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: A large fire is burning 20kms south of Yuendumu and is causing smoke in the area. The fire may impact the following roads over the following days Tanami track, Nyirripi, Papunya and Newhaven.

Please take caution when traveling through the area and turn on your headlights when traveling through smoke. Firefighters are currently responding to the fire.
