Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet NT COVID-19 Update

The Northern Territory is today reporting the death of a man in his 60s with COVID-19.
He was from remote community of Kintore in Central Australia and had underlying health conditions.
The man passed away on 4 February and his death was confirmed by NT Health this morning.
The NT Government extends its sincere condolences to the man’s family and loved ones at this sad time.
There have now been 5 COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the Northern Territory since the start of the pandemic.
There were 867 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Northern Territory in the 24 hours to 8pm on 5 February 2022. Of these, 655 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
Following the submission of further RAT results, the case number for the 24-hour reporting period to 8pm on 4 February 2022 has been amended to 1057.
There were 552 cases recorded in the Top End Region, 147 in Central Australia, 43 in the East Arnhem region, 23 in the Big Rivers region, 24 in the Barkly region and 78 are under investigation.
There are currently 158 patients in hospital, with 28 patients requiring oxygen. There are three patients in ICU.
The number of active cases in the NT is about 7,372.
Lock-in to lift for Ampilatwatja, Milikapiti, Galiwin’ku, Milingimbi Island and Palumpa
A lock-in for Ampilatwatja, Milikapiti, Galiwin’ku, Milingimbi Island and Palumpa will lift at 2pm today. There will be no restrictions for these areas regarding movement for people who are vaccinated or unvaccinated.
The Australian Government has introduced biosecurity zones to restrict movement between remote communities in the Territory. For more information on biosecurity zones visit [https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/stay-safe/remote-communities/biosecurity-zones]
Public health measures
To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission, the following public health measures are in place across the NT:
