BASSINTHECITY set to ignite Darwin CBD with DJ Kah-Lo and local talent
Get ready for an electrifying night of music and Territory vibes - BASSINTHECITY is back. The free pop-up event, proudly supported by community partner Santos is the ultimate warm-up to BASSINTHEGRASS and will transform Austin Lane in the Darwin CBD on Wednesday, 14 May 2025.
Headlining the evening is international DJ Kah-Lo, who will be joined by Taste Club (Tim Benson), and Darwin local Prayer Corby. Best known for her song "Fasta" and for her collaboration with British DJ Riton on "Rinse and Repeat", which was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 59th Grammy Awards, the Nigerian artist promises a high-energy set and an unforgettable night in the lead-up to the Territory’s biggest music festival.
Adding to the buzz, the Territory Artist Competition returns this year, giving local musicians a dream opportunity to share the spotlight with major Australian and international artists at BASSINTHEGRASS on Saturday, 17 May. This year two acts - one live act and, for the first time, one DJ - will earn a coveted opening set on the Palm Stage and BASSment Stage respectively.
Winners will also take to stage at Santos x BASSINTHECITY, performing ahead of Kah-Lo, in an exciting preview of what’s to come. The winning acts will be announced on Wednesday, 7 May via the BASSINTHEGRASS Facebook and Instagram pages.
Beyond the music, Santos x BASSINTHECITY delivers an immersive Territory experience. Attendees can take part in the Wish Upon a Jellyfish Weaving Workshop led by talented artist Aly de Groot. Participants create and name their Jellyfish, with these beautiful jellyfish creations featured in installations across the BASSINTHEGRASS festival site. Austin Lane will also come alive with a vibrant selection of market stalls showcasing NT Artists, curators and creatives all contributing to the dynamic atmosphere of the evening.
Proudly supported by community partner Santos, BASSINTHECITY kicks off a week packed with events leading into BASSINTHEGRASS – including two unmissable AFL matches in Darwin, with the Gold Coast SUNS playing on Saturday, 10 May and Thursday, 15 May.
Final Release BASSINTHEGRASS tickets are on sale now for $155 (plus booking fee).
