Northern Territory Major Events Company

Australia’s Ultimate Festival of Wheels will host of one the nation’s biggest names in Australian music, with Sneaky Sound System confirmed as the headliner for the Red CentreNATS Sun 969 Podium Party.

The popular Aussie act will descend upon Alice Springs to entertain fans young and old as part of the Sun 969 Podium Party at Blatherskite Park from 7.30pm on Sunday, 5 September. The concert will wrap up a weekend of non-stop motorsports action.

Set to kick off on Friday, 3 September, this year’s Red CentreNATS promises to be louder, faster and busier than ever. This year’s event includes two exciting new categories, Trailer Reversing and Skid Row. Providing plenty of adrenaline-pumping action for spectators, skid row gives drivers the chance to smoke up their tyres to the max. It is open to all competitors, regardless of whether they are entered in the burnout competition or not. Held at Alice Springs Inland Dragway, drivers simply have to follow instructions from event officials and skid down a straight line without popping tyres or doing static burnouts.

All the usual highlights return this year too. Get your heart pumping at Alice Springs Inland Dragway, drive your highly modified pride and joy around town as part of the street cruising, put your vehicle through its paces on the Great Northern 4WD course, watch remote control cars put to the ultimate test or gawk at the incredible cars on display at the Shannons Show & Shine.

Some of the largest drawcards at Red CentreNATS are the burnouts and the drag racing, including the Garrett Advancing Motion Heavy Hitters which are back bigger and better than ever. A huge $37,000 worth of cash and prizes is up for grabs across five different drag racing categories.

Other program highlights include the iconic Yeperenye Shopping Centre Street Parade, Lasseters Motorkhana, grass driving and, of course, the Red CentreNATS wedding, which is a first for the event.

This year’s event will also include the five star Eljay Freestyle Entertainment Show at Blatherskite Park on Saturday, 4 September and Sunday, 5 September. Combining the excitement of motorcycle and bicycle stunts, the show turns into a character-driven comedy/action spectacle offering something for all members of the family.

Held over the Father’s Day weekend, Red CentreNATS is the ultimate gift for a motorsports-mad Dad. Snap up a general admission ticket from $30 per day, or grab a bargain 3 Day Chrome Pass for only $50.
