Delegation to engage with key representatives in Japan

Department of Primary Industry and Resources

Two Northern Territory Government employees will accompany the Minister for Primary Industry and Resources, the Honourable Paul Kirby to Japan today to promote further investment in the Territory.

A delegation of four including one employee of the Department of Primary Industry and Resources (DPIR) and one from the Department of Trade, Business and Innovation will meet with key Japanese government and corporate representatives of the resources industry.

Japan is the Territory’s largest trade and investment partner, underpinned by the Darwin and Ichthys LNG projects, which when combined supply more than 10 per cent of Japan’s global LNG imports and have land available for five additional LNG trains.

These and other gas-related projects represent multi-generational opportunities for Territorians and local businesses.

The delegation will engage with Japanese government officials, visit INPEX’s Naoetsu LNG receiving terminal and meet with senior INPEX officials, and attend the 57th Australia-Japan Joint Business Conference being held from 7 – 9 October in Osaka.

The group will return to Darwin on Saturday 12 October 2019.

The two public servants travelling are:

·         Deputy Chief Executive, DPIR

·         Director Oil and Gas, Investment Territory, DTBI

Travel costs for the two are:

·         Total for flights - $8,087.58

·         Total for accommodation - $4,975

Travel costs are based on the official itineraries received from the travel provider prior to departure and the known exchange rate at the time.
