Department of Health

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Northern Territory Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Practitioner Excellence Awards.

These awards acknowledge the outstanding contribution by our highly valued Aboriginal Health Worker and Aboriginal Health Practitioner workforce.

“These professionals play a vital role in the delivery of health services across the NT to Aboriginal clients in urban, regional and remote areas,” said Joanne Norton, Executive Director, People and Organisational Capability.

“They are often the first point of contact for people seeking health services, and provide a conduit between traditional health and western medical services.”

The award categories are:

  • Remote Aboriginal Health Worker
  • Urban Aboriginal Health Worker
  • Remote Aboriginal Health Practitioner
  • Urban Aboriginal Health Practitioner
  • Specialist Aboriginal Health Practitioner
  • New Practitioner
  • Student Award
  • Honour Roll

The recipients will be announced at a presentation in Darwin on Friday 13 September 2019.

These awards are held in partnership with the Australian Government Department of Health, Rotary Club of Darwin Sunrise, United Voice and Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory.

Nominations close Sunday 21 July 2019.
