Ex-Tropical Cyclone Tiffany Update #6 – Flood Watch
12 January 2022
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Tiffany crossed the coast this morning and weakened over land, just west of Ngukurr. There are no current Cyclone Watch or Warnings issued for the Northern Territory.
A Flood Watch has been issued for the Western Top End and Roper River.
Flood Warning Zone: None
Flood Watch Zone: Western Top End and Roper River
Significant flooding of low-lying areas and river rises are expected. Many roads, may be affected. Some communities and homesteads may become isolated.
Those in the watch zone are encouraged to review your household flood emergency plan and ensure your emergency kit is stocked.
Residents are reminded to stay away from floodwaters, do not attempt to cross or drive through floodways and to be CrocWise.
Heavy rains are a serious driving hazard. We recommend people avoid driving in high weather if possible, but if you have to be on the road, please use extreme caution, drive to conditions, slow down, allow plenty of time for your trip and turn your lights on.
