Carpentaria Highway is now open

Department of the Chief Minister

Incident Controller Matt Hollamby has confirmed the Carpentaria Highway is now open.

The road is now accessible however drivers are advised to slow down, drive to the conditions and remain vigilant after such intense weather conditions.

Drivers are asked to consider if it is necessary to travel after dark. There is a chance of fallen trees, deteriorated surfaces and other obstacles, in addition to the usual risks nocturnal animals create on our roads.

Robinson River is currently not accessible. We will advise when it is safe for community members to return to this region.

We appreciate your patience as we work to get everyone home safely.
