The Precautionary Advice for Drinking Water (Water Boil
Alert) issued for Groote Eylandt has been cancelled.
Power was not lost to this area during the cyclone and the water supply was not compromised. It is safe for drinking.
The alert remains in place for the following communities: Borroloola, Ngukurr, Numbulwar, Robinson River, Rittarangu and Bickerton Island/Milyakburra.
Power and Water Corporation has advised the Department of Health to expect disruptions to water supplies in these communities, as Tropical Cyclone Trevor may have damaged water supply infrastructure.
The Department of Health recommends that water for drinking, making food and cleaning your teeth be obtained from either packaged bottled water or by bringing tap water to the boil and allowing to cool prior to use.
The Department of Health will advise further when the water supply system is fully operational and the water is safe to drink.
