The Territory Government has released a tender to undertake demolition and site remediation works at the Old Anzac Hill High School in Alice Springs.
The tender calls for demolition of the existing structure which is no longer fit for use, and poses a risk to public safety.
Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics Chief Executive, Andrew Kirkman, said old Anzac Hill High School building structure is unsafe and is beyond economical repair.
“The current structure poses a risk to public safety, and it is important this site is cleared to ensure the risk is mitigated,” said Mr Kirkman.
“The Old Anzac Hill demolition is scheduled to take approximately 20 weeks, and includes the removal and disposal of the building structure, and site remediation, including tidying-up and minor landscape works on site.”
The Territory Government is working with the Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority (AAPA) to ensure the surrounding restricted work zones will not be impeded during the project.
The works are expected to start in May 2019.
