The Alice Springs MVR Test Shed will be temporarily closed while the brake testing machine is replaced, commencing 18 March 2019.
The contract to replace the machine was recently awarded to Ant Construction and Development Pty Ltd and is valued at $132,041.80.
The new machine will provide the Test Shed with the latest technology
in roller brake testing, ensuring that vehicle braking systems are operating
correctly and vehicles are safe. The new machine is compliant with national
standards for roller brake testing and suitable for testing all vehicles,
including those equipped with the latest braking technology.
The expected closure dates are:
- Heavy vehicles – 18 March 2019 to 15 April 2019 (4 weeks)
- All other vehicles – 18 March 2019 to 1 April 2019 (2 weeks)
During the works all roadworthy inspections can still be completed by an Authorised Inspector (approved local mechanic). Compliance inspections and defect clearances will still be processed at the MVR Test Shed, Stuart Highway, Alice Springs.
Customers can find their nearest authorised inspector by referring to the NT Rego Smartphone app or going to nt.gov.au/driving/rego/vehicle-inspections/inspection-facilities.
