New to the School Holiday calendar are three separate fun day extravaganzas designed especially for children to enjoy an array of free activities, once a week from 9am to 12pm at Darwin Waterfront.
Commencing Tuesday 8 January Splash and Play will feature AFL Aus Kick Clinics, giant bubble fun, surf lifesaving, waterslides plus the unique opportunity to try Pico Sailing - a small dinghy with a main sail (and jib) that can be crewed by one or two children at the Recreation Lagoon.
Craft and Play Fun Day on Wednesday 16 January suit the more creative or artistic. The pop-up activity stations scattered amongst the parklands will include scratch art, cookie decorating, playdough, dancing and instruments, LEGO play, and the popular mega-sized Giant Jenga game.
On the final fun day Splash and Play on Thursday 24 January, children can craft fish and coral to create a giant art installation, splash in the water with Nippers Lifesaving and cruise on the blue lagoon waterslide, giant slip and slide or the big splash slippery dip. AFL Aus Kick Footy Clinics along with giant bubble fun will also return to the lawns.
All activities are suited to primary aged school children and will run concurrently on each fun day between 9am and midday, for children to pick and choose or have a go at all whilst down at the Waterfront.
Darwin Waterfront Membership holders can also continue to enjoy unlimited free entry to the Wave Lagoon and locker use, plus other incentives such as 10% off at food and beverage outlets or 30% off of Big Buoy Floating Waterpark. To purchase membership visit the Wave Lagoon Kiosk or visit www.waterfront.nt.gov.au.
The free festive parking period continues at the Waterfront until Friday 18 January for all Corporation managed on-street and off-street carparks, except the Kitchener Drive Multi-Storey Carpark which offers 2 hours free every day, year round.
