Spirit of Christmas in the Red Centre!

Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture

Connect with nature and celebrate the true spirit of Christmas at the Alice Springs Desert Park from 15-24 December 2018.

Escape the heat and head into the cool for some hands on fun all in the spirit of Christmas.

Enjoy Christmas card craft, gumnut decorating, constructing tree decorations and gifts made from the heart for that special person.

Alice Springs Desert Park Director Paul Ah Chee ‘Ngala’ said there’s something for everyone this Christmas.

“The Spirit of Christmas program is held indoors making the most of air-conditioning where fallen nuts, seeds and leaves collected from around the Park will be used to create masterpieces,” Mr Ah Chee said.

“There’s a world of science under microscopes where you can investigate many of the smaller intricate aspects of the desert.

“Before you explore the Desert Park pick up an Eco Passport to test your desert detective skills.

“The summer holidays are the perfect time to explore the Desert Park first thing in the morning when the birdlife is plentiful and animals are active. Let the children unleash their imagination and detective skills.”

The Spirit of Christmas program is located indoors. Admission fees apply. Activities are free once you enter the Desert Park. No bookings required.

Park is open 7.30am to 6pm daily and only closed on Christmas Day (25 December). This is the perfect opportunity to bring visiting family and friends to the town’s world-class attraction.
