The Northern Territory Government is encouraging eligible Territorians to apply for the second round of Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) event funding before applications close on November 30.
NTMEC General Manager Tim Watsford said the bi-annual funding supports events that attract, or have the potential to attract, visitors, and showcase everything the Territory has to offer.
“The Government is investing more than $1.2 million through the NTMEC event funding grants program in 2018/19 to drive visitation across the Territory by developing existing events and creating new ones,” he said.
“It is great to see the wide range and calibre of events this funding supports, which provides a boost to tourism in Northern Australia, and connects and engages local communities.”
Two funding streams are available – Event Development Funding ($10,000 - $200,000) is offered to support innovative changes/additions to event programs that drive visitation (2-3 year funding agreements), and Strategic Development Funding ($10,000-$30,000) is offered as once-off support for events to build their long-term capability, sustainability and ensure a safe event environment.
Strategic Development funding can also support national marketing for events.
This grant round is open from Tuesday 30 October – Friday 30 November, and is for events being held between March 2019 – March 2020.
The funding guidelines can be found online at www.ntmajorevents.com.au/event-funding/.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact NTMEC at ntmec.grants@nt.gov.au to discuss their application prior to submission.
A total of 14 events across the Northern Territory received funding in round one in 2018/19 (May-August), encompassing sport, arts, food, military commemorations and Indigenous culture.
Event organisers can also promote their events through the NT Events Guide for free at www.nteventsguide.com.au. The NT Events Guide aims to provide a comprehensive events calendar to ensure Territorians are aware of ‘what’s on’. The guide is supported through a social media campaign and targeted advertising.
