The Department of Tourism and Culture’s Araluen Arts Centre is excited to present the 2017 winner of the Melbourne International Guitar Competition, Callum Henshaw.
“Callum Henshaw is considered one of Australia's leading young classical guitar players and we are pleased to be presenting an evening of some of the finest classical music for the Alice Springs community,” Senior Director of the Department of Tourism and Culture’s Araluen Cultural Precinct, Dr Mark Crees said.
Organised by the Melbourne Guitar Foundation, the Melbourne International Guitar Festival is Southern hemisphere’s largest annual classical guitar festival and competition. One of the highlights of the Festival is the International Concert Artist Competition which saw Callum take home first place in 2017.
“Described as a ‘powerful, expressive’ performer, Canberra-born Callum began learning at the age of six,” Dr Crees said.
“Since he first started studying with some of the country’s leading guitar teachers, including Minh Le Hoang, Callum has had success at a number of major national and international competitions including first place at the 2012 Cordoba International Guitar Competition in Spain and the 2014 Tirana International Guitar Competition in Albania.”
Callum has released two commercial recordings including his 2016 critically acclaimed Echo and Return.
Callum Henshaw will be live onstage at the Araluen Arts Centre on Saturday 10 November at 8:00pm.
Ticket prices are $34.00 for adults, $30.00 for concession and $28.00 for Araluen Arts Centre Members.
