Young explorers can run wild at the Alice Springs Desert Park these school holidays.
Sign up for the Desert Explorer Program or visit during the day and test your knowledge with Passport to the Park.
Alice Springs Desert Park Director Paul Ah Chee ‘Ngala’ said the Desert Explorer Program gives kids a great excuse to get outside.
“The Desert Park is bursting with new life at the moment, so it is a great time for budding explorers to come along and make new friends while connecting with nature,” Mr Ah Chee said.
“The focus this time around will be on spring with an abundance of wildflowers and mammals preparing for breading season. The day is full of fun, educational experiences exploring the behind the scenes life of the Desert Park.”
There is something for everyone, so if the Desert Explorer Program is not for you, there is still a fun-filled daily program over the school break to keep little and big people alike busy with talks and presentations daily including the popular Nature Theatre – free flight show at 10am and 3.30pm daily. Spot quizzes will make an appearance at selected presentations with prizes up for grabs.
On arrival collect a ‘Passport to the Park’ and follow the clues, complete quizzes and puzzles to learn about our natural word. Show the team at the entry station your skills at completing the passport and you will receive a gift.
Parents can take a break too and relax in the shade with a coffee at the Coolamon Café and while young children enjoy the new playground included in the price of entry to the Desert Park.
The Desert Explorer Program will run 1-3 and 8-10 October from 8.30am – 4pm and is available for 8-12 year olds.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are included. $100 per child per day.
