Renowned acoustic chamber-folk trio The String Contingent, will visit the Department of Tourism and Culture’s Araluen Arts Centre this September.
“We are pleased to introduce the Central Australian community to The String Contingent with their unique sound that confidently walks the line between folk, classical, jazz and bluegrass music,” Senior Director of the Department of Tourism and Culture’s Araluen Cultural Precinct, Dr Mark Crees said.
“The String Contingent have toured extensively across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Scandinavia, and we can’t wait for them to play at the Araluen Arts Centre.”
The String Contingent brings Australian Chris Stone on violin and Holly Downes on double bass together with Scotsman Graham McLeod on guitar, who share a musical ethos that showcases the individuality of each musician and eclipses genre.
The String Contingent are equally comfortable rocking a festival stage or playing for an intimate crowd. In performance, their camaraderie and cheeky banter shines through, as does their passionate musicianship and instrumental skill.
“The String Contingent are a joyful combination of precision, refinement and beauty, balanced with visceral energy and drive.”
In 2017 the trio launched their fifth album, Iterations, recorded at the Windsong Pavillion at Four Winds in Bemagui, NSW.
The String Contingent will be live onstage at the Araluen Arts Centre on Friday 21 September at 8:00pm.
Ticket prices are $45.00 for adults, $42.00 for concession and $40.00 for Araluen Arts Centre Members.
Tickets are available online at www.araluenartscentre.nt.gov.au or from the Araluen Box Office on (08) 8951 1122.
