The Department of Tourism and Culture is calling for two volunteers to join the NT Creative Industries Steering Committee to help drive the future of the sector in the Territory.
The two representatives will work alongside the Department of Tourism and Culture and the Chamber of Commerce NT to grow the economic contribution of the creative industries sector.
“The Creative Industries Steering Committee will help drive the development of a new creative industries strategy to grow the sector, which is important to the social, economic and cultural fabric of the Territory,” Department of Tourism and Culture, Deputy Chief Executive, Lorraine Corowa said.
“The Steering Committee is expected to be in place for nine months and during this time a range of industry consultations will be conducted with stakeholders having the opportunity for input into the Creative Industries Development Strategy and associated Development Report.”
This work will result in the development of a:
- Creative Industries Development Strategy incorporating an assessment of the economic contribution of the sector, identification of the number of businesses within the sector, growth aspirations and overall vision, defining the key priority areas which will drive innovation and investment and build capacity and partnerships
- Creative Industries Development Report including options for the development of an ongoing Evaluation Framework to assess and monitor industry contributions, an analysis on how the sector can be best represented and how a Creative Industries Business Council could work in a Territory context.
The development of a Creative Industries strategy was identified in the co-designed Northern Territory Economic Development Framework as a key action to grow the economic contribution of the creative industries sector.
Representatives can be from any creative industries sector including:
- architecture and design
- advertising, graphic design, marketing and publishing
- software development and digital/interactive content
- music composition and production
- visual and performing arts and craft
- film, TV and radio.
