NT Peak Sporting Bodies are encouraged to apply for the NTIS Officiating Development Program 2018/19 Grants Round 1.
Peak Sporting Bodies can share in $58,000 from two funding categories, including:
Category 1: Accreditation Courses and Competitions
Category 2: Development of Officiating Coaches and Educators
Category 1 aims to improve the skills, knowledge and experience of accredited sport officials within the NT. Category 2 aims to assist sports with the education and coaching of officials in the NT.
Administered by the NTIS, Peak Sporting Bodies can apply for one or both of the categories and receive up to $4,000 per category, to a maximum of $8,000 in total.
Department of Tourism and Culture Senior Director of Sport and Active Recreation, Ian Ford, said the program aims to strengthen the capability and capacity of sport organisations to assess, coach, and educate NT officials, while increasing the number of Territorians officiating at the highest levels in sport.
“I’m pleased to announce the NTIS Officiating Development Program for 2018/19, which continues to help improve the knowledge, skills and experience of accredited sport officials participating in the NT,” said Mr Ford.
“Sport is a way of life in the NT, and the Officiating Development Program is a really important initiative to strengthen the quality and integrity of sport, while also rewarding and recognising officials for their contribution to sport across the Territory.”
Applications for the Officiating Development Program Grants Round 1 open 1 September and close 30 September 2018.
Administered by the NTIS, more than 20 organisations benefited from the $58,000 available for the 2017/18 Officiating Development Program, including AFLNT, Cycling NT, Football Federation NT, Golf NT, Gymnastics NT, Netball NT and NRL NT.
