New key actions for Territory Families

Territory Families

This document clearly defines the direction the Agency will follow over the next year and considers what has already been achieved in the delivery of quality outcomes for Territory Families.

“This compendium to our Strategic Plan outlines our focus and priorities for the year ahead as we continue to strive to empower families and communities for a safe and better future.

“By fine tuning our efforts we can ensure that the work we are doing is quantifiable so we can more clearly see where we are making a difference”, said Ken Davies, Chief Executive Officer of Territory Families.

The past year has been a productive time for Territory Families and we have achieved many of the goals we set for ourselves. It is now time to plan our way forward as we keep families, children and their communities at the centre of our decision making.

The refreshed strategic plan identifies 45 Key Actions for 2018-19 across the six goals of the Agency.

Of the 55 key actions contained in the Strategic Plan, 21 have already been completed (nine of which will require ongoing monitoring and maintenance); 30 are currently in the delivery stage; and four are in the planning stage.

Implementation of some of the Key Actions defined in the Strategic Plan has already commenced including:

  • Delivery of the Aboriginal Carer Growing Up Aboriginal Children funding to increase the number of Aboriginal carers

  • Develop and embed an Aboriginal Cultural Security Framework by the end of 2018 that promote the highest level of cultural competency across individuals, services and governance.

  • Implement the new Northern Territory Concessions Scheme and Seniors Recognition Scheme.

  • Lead the development of new youth justice facilities in Darwin and Alice Springs.

  • Improve our complaints system to encourage more feedback from carers, clients and families, and more thorough responses and improved practice quality as a result of feedback.
