Correction of gazette administrative error

Department of Attorney-General and Justice

Since the commencement of the Local Court Act on 1 May 2016, nine judicial appointments had not been formally gazetted due to an administrative oversight within the Department of the Attorney-General and Justice.

Acting Chief Executive Officer, Meredith Day, says the Department of the Attorney-General and Justice has carefully considered the matter and is confident that the administrative oversight, while unfortunate, does not affect the validity of the appointments, or things done pursuant to them.

Yesterday evening the Department of the Attorney-General and Justice took steps to address the matter by completing the formal appointment process through publication in the Government Gazette.

As a result, the oversight has now been remedied and appropriate gazetting for relevant appointments has been completed.
