Councils urged to apply for Special Purpose Grant funding

Department of Local Government, Housing and Community Development

Applications for round one of the 2018-19 Local Government Special Purpose Grants are now open with $2 million available in this funding round.

Local governing bodies, or incorporated organisations delivering local government/municipal services (which are currently funded through the Department of Housing and Community Development) are invited to apply for funding for initiatives that improve community infrastructure and service delivery outcomes.

The Special Purpose Grants help to deliver the outcomes a council has outlined in its strategic or operational plan, and regional management plan.

Last year, the projects which received grant funding under this initiative included

  • the purchase of plant and equipment to assist with road maintenance and waste management;

  • assistance with the implementation of animal management programs;

  • playground upgrades; and

  • CCTV and LED lighting.

Further information, and application forms are available online at dhcd.nt.gov.au.

Applications can be emailed to lg.grants@nt.gov.au by COB Friday September 7 2018.
