The fresh-look 2018 Alice Springs Masters Games medals have been revealed.
Department of Tourism and Culture, Events Manager, Jim Lawrie, said 2018 represents the 17th running of the Alice Springs Masters Games and new decade for the event.
“The games have run bi-annually since 1986 and it is great to see the Alice Springs Masters Games continue to attract people from all over Australia,” Mr Lawrie said.
“It didn’t take long for the Games to earn the reputation of ‘The Friendly Games’ because of the camaraderie and good spirited nature of the competitors and the environment created by the atmosphere of Alice Springs.
“That spirit is now carried around Australia and overseas by the thousands of people who have experienced the Alice Springs Masters Games.
“The new-look modern medal design moves away from the traditional round medals and gives an individualised design that represents the Alice Springs Masters Games and the Territory.
“The medal unveiling marks just over 71 days to go until around 4000 participants and volunteers will descend on Alice Springs for the event 13 – 20 October.”
